Life in the Middle Ages

  1. 1. Land was owned by the nobility. Kings, nobles, vassals, barons, prince, lords.
    2. Land was the basis of wealth
    3. The Vassal would have to host the lord and his entourage. Very costly in terms of food
    4.If someone ran away and was able to stay away for a whole year AND a day, then they don't belong to the land anymore and belong someplace else.
    5.Manor House. A huge piece of land with a huge house and a village close by. Where the lord lives.
    6.A trencher was a hollowed out piece of bread used as a plate/bowl, Often old, perhaps mouldy, weevil filled, and ahared between 2 people, along with the cup and the knife that the man wielded.
